Notifications & alerts
Failure, recovery, and threshold alerts delivered to Slack channels and email — with per-repository routing.
Gitera tells your team about pipeline problems where they actually read: Slack and email.
Alert types
| Type | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Event alerts | A run fails, is cancelled, or a previously failing workflow recovers |
| Threshold alerts | A condition is breached — consecutive failure count, failure-rate percentage, duration threshold, or a cost spike |
Slack channels
Create an Incoming Webhook in your Slack workspace and copy its URL.
In Gitera open Notifications → Slack channels → Add channel and paste the URL.
Route repositories to channels — e.g. payments-* to #payments-ci — or use a default org-wide channel.
Alert messages link straight to the failing GitHub Actions workflow run.
Email notifications
Enable event or threshold emails in Settings → Email preferences. Every alert email carries an unsubscribe link; preferences are per user.
Threshold rules
Configure in Notifications → Thresholds:
- Consecutive failures — alert after N failed runs in a row on a workflow/repo.
- Failure rate — alert when a workflow's failure percentage in the window exceeds a limit.
- Duration — alert when a run exceeds a wall-clock threshold.
- Cost spike — alert on abnormal spend growth.
Not receiving alerts? See notification troubleshooting — the most common cause is a revoked Slack webhook.
