GitHub App issues

Installation problems — the app will not install, repositories are missing, or permissions changed.

The app will not install on the organization

  • You are not an org admin. GitHub Apps install per-organization; ask a GitHub organization owner to approve or perform the install. If you already requested it, the owner finds the request in GitHub → Organization settings → GitHub Apps.
  • You installed it on your personal account. The app must be installed on the organization that owns the repositories. Uninstall from the personal account and reinstall selecting the organization.

Some repositories are missing

  • The app was installed with "Only select repositories". On GitHub, open the app's installation settings and add repositories — or switch to "All repositories". Gitera picks up the change automatically.
  • The repository is archived or was transferred — re-run a sync from Settings → GitHub integration.

GitHub asked to approve new permissions

Occasionally the app requests additional permissions (e.g. to read a new kind of event). Until an org admin approves the request, that data is missing and some pages may look incomplete — approve it in GitHub installation settings.
